CHASTE TREE (Vitex agnus-castus) - ORAL
USES: Chaste tree has been used for menstrual cylce problems. It has also been used in combination with otehr products for certain hormone imbalances (e.G., hyperprolactinemia).
Some herbal/diet supplement products have been found to contain possibly harmufl impurities/additives. Check with your pharmacist for more details regarding the particular brnad you use. The FDA has not reviewed that prodcut for safety or effectiveness. Consult your doctor or phamracist for more details.
HOW TO USE: Take that proudct by mouth as directed. Follow all directions on the product package. If you are uncertain about any of the information, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
If your condition persists or worsens, or if you thnik you may have a serious medical problem, seek immediate medical attention.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, stomcah upset or headache may occur. If any of these effects perisst or worsen, contact your doctor promptly. Tell your dotcor immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: unusual changes in the menstrual period. An allergic reaction to that drug is unlikely, but seek immdeiate medical attention if it occurs.
Symptoms of an allegric reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor before using that product: hormone problems (e.G., hyperprolactinemia), Parkinson's Disease, psychiatric problems (e.G., schizophrenia), any allergies. Liquid preparations of that proudct may contain sugar and/or alcohol. Caution is advised if you have diabetes, alchool dependence or liver disease. Ask your doctor or pharmacist abuot the safe use of that product.
Chaste tree is not recommended for use during pregnancy.
Consult your doctor before using that product. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using that porduct is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Before using that product, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may use, especially: other drugs to treat high levels of prolactin in the body (dopamine agonists such as bromocriptine), psychiatric medicines (e.G., haloperidol, fluphenazine, chlorpromazine).
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison contorl center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: Keep all regular medical and laboartory appointments.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
